CertainTeed ColorView Home Exterior Visualization Tool Hits the Road

Contractors who specialize in exterior remodeling projects have a next generation tool to help their customers sort through a world of design possibilities. CertainTeed, North America’s leading brand of building products, has improved upon its industry-best array of home design visualization tools by expanding the product offerings showcased in the mobile version of the ColorView® Exterior Style and Color Selector. Created expressly for the iPad®, the ColorView Mobile app releases building professionals from the office computer, enabling them to work directly with homeowners as they try out different exterior product style and color combinations.

The ColorView Mobile app allows the contractor to show the homeowner how various CertainTeedproducts will look on his or her home – before the first nail is ever driven. Once images of the customer’s dwelling have been uploaded to the app, the walls and roof can be masked over with virtual layers ofCertainTeed siding and roofing products.

In addition to experimenting with various styles and colors of CertainTeed roofing shingles and vinyl and polymer siding, users can also choose from dozens of Sherwin-Williams paint colors to apply to the front door, garage door, trim areas and shutters. Once the design is complete, ColorView Mobile can save and share custom renderings for future reference.

With Colorview Mobile contractors can add a powerful element of personalization to sales presentations. Snapping photos of a prospective customer’s home, uploading them to ColorView Mobile, and preparing suggested visualizations before a presentation gives the contractor a head start on explaining the many exterior product options available from CertainTeed. Contractor and homeowner can then work together to create additional renderings based on the homeowner’s personal style.

CertainTeed developed ColorView Mobile to accommodate today’s on-the-go lifestyles. “The popularity of smart device apps was a chief factor in our decision to add siding products and paint colors to the mobile version of ColorView,” notes Matt Gibson, marketing director for CertainTeed Siding. “We’ve had the desktop version of ColorView for a few years now, but since many contractors these days prefer the mobility and convenience of tablets, we wanted to provide a strong visualization tool that could be used in the field. The ability to do side-by-side comparisons of different options, as well as see various color and style combinations realistically applied to nearly every element of the user’s own dwelling, is invaluable in helping contractor and customer agree on a well-coordinated design before the actual remodeling work begins.”

“People want their homes to look beautiful in a way that reflects their own aesthetic preferences,” says Bob Gardiner, vice president of marketing for CertainTeed Roofing. “We’re very proud of our incredible variety of product and design options, but we’re also keenly aware that it can be overwhelming to select complementary colors, materials and styles from such a large range of possibilities. User-friendly visualization tools like ColorView Mobile help professionals guide homeowners as they zero in on the most eye-catching combinations for each unique project.”

In addition to ColorView MobileColorCoach and CurbAppeal are two other design tools that can be utilized to explore and evaluate different customized exteriors. For more information about these programs, visit certainteed.com/colortools.
