Interior designer Lynne T. Jones and contractor Jim Nowlin (of Remodeling Concepts) transformed the kitchen and bath in the Sugar Land home of Yvette and Bob Newlin into thoroughly modern rooms. Their home was built in 1989 and hadn’t had major updates but in 2013 they redid their bathroom and in 2014 tackled their kitchen. The Menefees joked that these rooms were straight out of a ’90s time capsule, and the before-and-after photos show a remarkable transformation. Gone are the traditional, honey-oak cabinets, tile floors and regular appliances. Now, their kitchen has beautiful limestone floors, glossy white cabinets that reach to the ceiling, black granite countertops around the perimeter and a beige-gray-blue granite on the island. Thermador appliances add more than a touch of luxury.
