The Pearl, a luxury apartment community in Silver Spring, Md., developed by local real estate developer The Tower Cos., has achieved the inaugural Fitwel certification for a multifamily residential building. Established by public health and design professionals, including the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the General Services Administration (GSA), Fitwel fosters positive effects on occupant health and well-being through smart improvements to building design, awarding buildings one to three stars.
