Economic growth in the community comes with some growing pains, City Manager Harold Stewart says. With the Dollar Tree distribution center opening, other local businesses and industries expanding and a steel plant locating in Sedalia, more people will be needed to fill jobs, he said. The unemployment rate is already low, and the labor force continues to tighten, so the only way to solve the problem is to grow the population, Stewart said.
